This 30-hr course covers real estate law of contracts in Texas. The course helps prepare you for the Texas licensing exam, as well as provides the foundation knowledge necessary to be a successful real estate Sales Agent.

To apply for a Texas Real Estate Sales Agent’s license, you need to complete six courses (180 credit hours): Principles of Real Estate I (30 hours), Principles of Real Estate II (30 hours), Law of Agency (30 hours), Law of Contracts (30 hours), Promulgated Contracts and Forms (30 hours), and Real Estate Finance (30 hours). This course covers the 30 hours of content required in the Law of Contracts courses, as stipulated by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).

The course covers elements of contracts, offer and acceptance details, examination of the statute of frauds, remedies for breach of contract, unauthorized practice of law, commission rules relating to use of adopted forms, and owner disclosure requirements.

Please Note: A criminal conviction may affect a student's ability to become licensed. If a student has committed criminal offenses, has unpaid judgments, etc., the student may request a Fitness Determination (FD) from TREC prior to filing an application. This step may save time in pursuing a license if the student does not satisfy TREC’s qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.
